Patrick Thompson of Houston, TX was king enough
to let us drag his incredible '99 GT all the way out to NJ for a private
invite MM&FF event featuring the fastest Naturally Aspirated (N/A = No
Power Adders) street cars in the land. The rules were simple, no power
adders, must be street legal, 4.6 2V modular motors, and no gutted
interiors.
Placing 5th only a couple tenths off pace from
1st, Pat's car was the only short tube header car entered into the
event. It was also probably one of the heaviest and was definitely the
highest mileage vehicle on the track with over 99k on the clock and
still putting down low 12 sec ET's at over 107 mph!
Pat got the bug from his roommate
Michael Horne, also present at the event as the number 3 placed '00 GT,
and never looked back. With all the basic mods including: Accufab 75mm
Upper Plenum and 75mm Throttle Body, Comp 270 (Stage II) cams & Springs,
BBK Cold Air Kit modified for the huge filter and SCT MAF, FRPP shorty
headers, Off road X-Pipe, Cat-Back, 4.10's, 31 spline axles, Weld
Draglights 15 x 10's out back, 15 x 3's up front,
M/T 26 x 10 slicks, and the factory 5 sp. Upper/Lower rear control arms.

Consistently hanging the front hoops was
the norm for the day as Pat's GT ripped off numerous 1/4 mile dashes in
the low 12's with a best of 12.411. As you can see from the pic above,
the M/T's where trying every bit to grab the sticky track and get this
white rocket past the 60 ft marks in the 1.6's. Not bad for a stock
suspension N/A 4.6 with only a few basic mods.
**UPDATED*** Pat's GT has been
freshened up a bit with a new Spec Stage I mod motor clutch system
and some Long Tubes!! With these changes, it has clicked the clocks at a
mere 12.20 @ 113 mph!
Congrats Pat for the new best ET!!
